Episode summary
In this solo episode of The Barakah Blueprint, Ibrahim Shareef reframes Ramadan as the best personal development course you can take, a boot camp for discipline built on delayed gratification and emotional control. He argues the same discipline that carries you through fasting makes you a better leader, that Salah is the ultimate time management system, and that real success is about purpose, not just productivity.

bamum hello everyone and welcome to the Baraka blueprint this is the podcast where we discuss how to align Faith with Focus to achieve lasting success my name is ibraim Sharif and today we'll be talking about the Ramadan mindset for Success Ramadan is not just about fasting it's about disciplining the soul and sharpening the mind and most importantly it's about training the heart it's a time when we naturally wake up early set priorities and limit our distractions and it's a time where we focus on what truly matters so what if we took that Ramadan mindset and applied it Beyond Ramadan and what if we applied it Beyond simply acts of worship what if we applied it into our daily lives into our personal relationship into our careers and to our personal growth that is exactly what we will be talking about today and Baraka Style Now ladies and gentlemen Ramadan is the best personal development course you can take in your life it's the ultimate boot camp for discipline because fasting is more than just hunger and thirst it's more than abstaining from food and drink it's the mind and the heart's training it's a spiritual training for example the prophet sallallahu alaihi wasallam said fasting is a shield and it really is because it trains your heart your soul your mind everything that makes up Who You Are to take on challenges that you face in a much better way because in Ramadan you are training to control your desires because if you can't control your desires your desires will control you and therefore Ramadan is a shield now you may be asking yourself how does Ramadan train you simply because of these two words delayed gratification and that is essential for both spiritual success and material success think back to all of the motivational videos that you've seen from other creators and other motivational speakers and the the the the Common Thread that everybody talks about is if you want to achieve success be it riches be it uh SP Sports success be it whatever type of success you are looking for you need to master delayed gratification you also learn to control your emotions you learn emotional control and you learn to master emotional control in Ramadan you learn to respond with p rather than to react therefore as you may have figured it out the same discipline that will take you through Ramadan is the very very same discipline that will make you a better leader a better thinker and a better decision maker and that's why we say Ramadan is the best personal development course you can take and if Ramadan is the best personal development course you can take then Salah is the best time management system that you can implement it is basically your five daily resets for Focus think about it this way the prophet sallallahu alai wasam said the stronger believer is more valuable in the eyes of God than the weak believer and that is true in every single aspect the strong believer in terms of physical strength Financial strength mental strength strength in knowledge emotional and spiritual strength all of those are strengths therefore we need to understand that the ultimate Muslim is someone who practices and trains and goes through this training in this boot camp whatever training that God gives us so that we become the ultimate specimen because God Almighty pushes us and motivates us and actually calls us to strengthen every aspect of Our Lives be it the physical and contingent to the spiritual and metaphysical to achieve that we need to establish a robust and rigid time management system the answer is something that God Almighty gave us already which is our five daily prayers because some things you'll need to train on is time blocking Focus sessions planning prioritization and focus and well ironically five uh and Salah prayers is the best train meaning to perfect those five elements and it's also evidence-based because studies show that scheduled breaks will help boost focus and productivity and ultimately reduces burnout the best leaders are those that manage their time wisely the best leaders are those that manage their time with precision and accuracy and you know what Salah teaches that every single day five times a day because Allah says prayer has been prescribed as a timely matter as a timely Covenant connecting that to Ramadan connecting that to Ramadan you're putting yourself in a mindset where you have to prioritize early mornings early mornings for early mornings for the night prayer which teaches us that the morning is a key for productivity and what fasting does is that it helps us and it teaches us to stay focused and to stay sharp and to limit the distractions and limit things that we make necessary for ourselves like that morning cup of coffee now technically and take this from a coffee addict you don't need coffee for productivity I'll be honest it's a very nice thing I'm not I'm not telling you to stay away from coffee absolutely not no I don't want to lose a fan base but what I'm trying to say is that you should not be dependent on coffee there's a big difference between enjoying the coffee and being dependent on the coffee so the so this restraint in Ramadan teaches us discipline discipline at work discipline in our prayers and our acts of worship and discipline in our careers which is exactly why we say Salah is the best time management system ladies and gentlemen Ramadan is proof that we don't need coffee for productivity what we need much more than the coffee is purpose let's use Ramadan as our Anchor Point that we don't return to Lazy mornings after Ramadan F Should Be the Anchor Point of the day it should be the Anchor Point for productivity now think of it this way successful people don't wake up early just because they have to or because they want to show off they wake up early because it gives them an advantage it gives them an Edge so tip number one maintain that Focus for f maintain that Focus for early mornings so that you also get that edge the second tip do some periodic fasts or some uh fasting every now and then after Ramadan Like Mondays and Thursdays for for example or another interval that you are more comfortable with so that you can maintain this focus and Clarity not only that it's a Sunnah as well the prophet sallallahu alaihi wasallam fasted Mondays and Thursdays a Sunnah that enhances discipline and focus and we could see that from him because he was the best example for us so if you want to improve self-control decision making precision and accuracy a very strong recommendation is to continue fasting after Ramadan be it Mondays and Thursdays or another period that you are more comfortable with and number three is purpose not just productivity we work with purpose and not just productivity most people most people work just to get things done Ramadan however reminds us that we need to work with purpose because when you align your daily mission your monthly Miss Mission your mission overall with a clear purpose and a lasting purpose you invite more Baraka to your journey to that success path and it brings your mission that much more Baraka so whatever you do whatever business you're in or whichever path you're choosing in your career tie it back to impact and purpose in Islam in Islam success isn't just about what you achieve but it's also about how you achieve it for example inl we read the Allah subhanahu waala wrote Perfection on all things soan is a core principle in our acts of worship but also in our daily activities and tasks for ex for example in that very same Hadith the prophet sallallah alai wasallam said thatan is even written or Excellence is even required for when you are preparing your food when you are uh slaughtering the animal for food this is also why the prophet sallallahu alai wasam was deemed as the most disciplined leader the most strategic leader and the most impactful person in history also why because a core principle that he taught his companions and taught his nation and taught his umah was Excellence so how can we stay consistent after Ramadan number one we Center our time around Salah because a Salah centered schedule will maintain discipline number two mindset mindset mindset keep a growth mindset because Ramadan is the beginning of change not the end number three accountability find accountability hold yourself accountable if you are Solo reflecting my warm recommendation is a journal my dear friend uh Community also helps having a healthy Community a healthy group of friends around you that keep you accountable to your goals is something that is key that my dear listener will help you achieve thatan will help you achieve that Excellence thank you for tuning in to the Bara blueprint podcast make is not just the end it is the beginning of greater things to come make sure you maintain that growth mindset and make sure you maintain that discipline and let's we ask Allah subhana wa tala to help us in maintaining the fruits that we reap and the benefit that we get from this holy blessed and Baraka fill month stay productive stay focused uh stay disciplined and until next time in Baraka Style
